Footwear Revolt: Hush Puppies Colab with Anna Sui

If only Elvis were alive to croon "Blue Suede Shoes" to stiletto-fatigued fans who will be fashion forward this Fall in electric blue mary-janes, by Hush Puppies for Anna Sui, which debuted on the runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Designers take note: pain-free affordable footwear that doesn't need to doom the wearer to lugging around an extra pair of shoes in a 10-gallon purse. I predict a running of the stores for the moto boot, tap shoe and ghillie styles when the line arrives this September at Nordstrom and Anthropologie and an e-stampede to hushpuppies.com. Maybe Anna Sui's Boho Barbie will be hoofing Hush Puppies for Fall 2011.

Anna Sui Store in Hearst Building?

My newest, and perhaps most devoted and in-the-know stringer (who doubles as one of the best PR people in town during the day) just contacted me with the interesting news that there is an Anna Sui logo on the retail/street level of the Hearst building on 8th Avenue near Columbus Circle. Realizing that this area is now known for Whole Foods and the block is better known for Duane Reade and McDonald's, we just spent a few minutes pontificating what we are hoping could be a new Anna Sui store, underscoring an interesting corporate strategy: put your wares right out in front of the editors of some of the world's top books: Cosmopolitan, Seventeen, Bazaar, etc. and see if your editorial coverage surges - or at the very least - your sales. Anyone with any news or insight into the legitimacy of our assumption, please advise...

Woodstock/Saugerties - Potential Exists!

The biggest issue with my shopping in these sleepy upstate New York towns is that I do not have, have never had, and will never have an inner (or outer) hippie. However, while visiting my "very special friend" I found the coolest store called Sugar on Mill Hill Rd. in Woodstock. It stocks great rocker-type garb from Anna Sui, Betsey Johnson and L.A.M.B (Gwen Stefani's label), among other brands. In no way, shape, or form is this stuff even close to reasonably priced, but the clothes were truly awesome and I could see myself trying tons of stuff on for hours and hours for kicks, if nothing else. And to be fair, there were a few pairs of shoes that were 50% off (although 50% of $450 still isn't a "steal" in my book).

Then, at a candles-only store basically across the street, I bought myself the coolest and most expensive candle of my life, and proceded to lose it in one of the many forms of transportation that I took home. I am so annoyed! I would tell you the name...but I guess I lost that too!

More tomorrow on my Saugerties experience...my blog keeps cutting me off! Too tired for technology now.
