Shop It To Me: Free Online Personal Sale Shopper

Hey have you heard about "Shop It To Me?" I just signed up and it seems pretty cool. They may make an online shopper of me yet.

So what is it? It's this online shopping service you sign up for that proactively sends you clothing that matches your size and brand preferences as soon as it goes on sale. Sort of a free personal online shopper featuring brands such as Theory, Prada, Armani, Ella Moss, Juicy Couture, Seven Jeans, DKNY, or BCBG. It scours websites of leading retailers like Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Banana Republic, Gap, Zappos and Bluefly and email a daily or weekly summary of on sale items in your size.

They also have a blog that provide insights on fashion tips and tricks that seem helpful, if not competitive (to ME!). http://blog.shopittome.com/

BCBG Max Azria - 5th 'n' 40th

I have been scoping out the new BCBG Maxazria store on the northeast corner of 5th Avenue and 40th St., which used to house a Pier 1 Imports, if I am not mistaken.

Today there were boxes being delivered, the contents of which I do not know. But a quick peek inside the joint tells me that there's still a while to go until this latest palace of retail therapy opens to the public.

The "P" Word: PURSE (BCBG & Elliott Lucca)

OK, so now that I have shown myself to be a complete mommy and daddy's girl, without reservation I shall tell you how the 'rents came to my rescue in the arena of PURSES (the word I like the least, James Lipton take note).

For at least two years I have been sporting a free p.o.s. that my dad got at his company convention. It did not inspire...anything...ever. It was kind of funny the first two times I used it, but after two years?

So any of you who have been reading this blog regularly know that I am hangbag-impaired. I hate the words to describe them about as much as I hate them themselves, with the exception of vintage evening bags.

Now that I am all adult and working on recognizing my weaknesses, I realized that I needed external help to raise my handbag IQ. I called on those who brought me into the world, and with the help of Daffy's and zappos.com, they presented me with the pictured bags for Christmas. The black one with the 70's styling is BCBG Max Azria and the tan, au natural one is Elliott Lucca.

The punchline is that I love them both, but have only used the black one once and the tan one never, instead opting to use the $10 maroon one that isn't pictured and is reminiscent of the free p.o.s. instead. This may take some time...

The other day, as I was making my way down to my favorite Club Monaco on 5th Avenue in the 20s, I came across a relatively new BCBG Max Azria store (168 5th Avenue). While this store is fully retail, the clothing is quite special and beautiful, so I thought it deserved a mention here. Downstairs features more "daily wear," while the upstairs houses scores of cocktail dresses that are quite fancy. In a "ooh! isn't that fancy!" kind of way. Also upstairs is a rack or two of sale items that looked quite nice, however they were extremely summer-y, so nothing that could be worn for several months in these here parts. Go check the joint out for inspiration!
