ANNA: The Lady In Red...

So wedding season is upon us, and as per usual, I am invited to one. So I trotted down to the store I can't seem to get away from these days (ANNA) and tried on about 12 dresses. Narrowed it down to 5. Bought 3. Will be debuting this red number, which is much more saucy and sophisticated when it is on an actual human. I just need to hunt down the right slip like the ladies did back in the day. Yes, it's going to be THAT kind of outfit. Mizz Kemp says that more of these numbers in some additional colors will be making their way into the store in the coming weeks.

Mother of the Groom Picks Anne & Alex

The only thing that may be worse than bridesmaids dresses are mother-of-the-bride (or groom) outfits. So what did a savvy little lady from Madonna's hometown do to resolve this age-old problem?

She went SEPARATES!

Here's how it went down straight from the mermaid's mouth: "The top is Anne Klein, the bottom is Alex Evenings. Both were purchased at Macy's after long hours of trying on the most atrocious 'Mother of the Bride or Groom' dresses...a sea of pastels with beads, sequins and frou-frou."

And as luck would have it, this mother is out of children to marry off, so both items are on sale - a guerilla shopper exclusive! If any mothers would like to purchase said items, she'll give them a deal!

Here Comes Your Man: Eisenberg & Eisenberg

You know, the boys want to look nice at their wedding too, even if it is only to cruise chicks all decked out James Bond-style.

So where does a dude who doesn't happen to own a tuxedo but needs to rent one for his nuptials go? Besides the thrift store? Well he can check out Eisenberg & Eisenberg on W. 17th St. between 5th and 6th Avenues, where perhaps a Joseph Abboud tuxedo, with shoes even, can be had for around $140.

As the photos of our featured groom reveal, you can stand and sit (almost) in this fine bevested penguin suit that stands up splendidly from day-to-night.

Jill Anderson: Wearable Wedding Wear

It's wedding season gals (or so I've heard)! Are you getting hitched this summer? Are you the David's Bridal or Vera Wang type? If you answered "yes" and "no" - in that order - you may want to check out Jill Anderson on E. 9th St.

Ms. Anderson is offering "Wearable Wedding Wear" to those women who would probably be a bit more low key than perhaps the typical image of a bridezilla. One of the theories behind the customizable "Parachute Dress" (pictured here), is not so much that you should breakdance or skydive while wearing it, but more that you can and will wear it again. And maybe even again and again. Make it longer, shorter, fuller, lined, red, green, blueindigoviolet. It's your big day damnit!

Ms. Anderson's shop also features the handcrafted leather sandal designs from Jutta Neumann as well as Joan Max Reinmuth jewelry. I was really intrigued by this jewelry, which was politely hard core using bike chains and other kinds of industrial materials, but not in a St. Mark's-I-am-going-to-kill-you kind of way.

However, I think the jewelry from Ike Designs would be more appropriate for brides-to-be looking for something special to wear with their Wearable Wedding Wear. My advice would to be contact Dori O'Dea, the designer behind Ike, as her Web site only reveals a small portion of her delicately lovely wares.
