Project Runway: I Won't Spoil it, but...

...while it wasn't who I expected would win, based on tonight's show, the designer who won deserved it.

Leather by...Stella Zotis (of Project Runway fame)

I don't think I've exclaimed my deep and lasting love of New York City recently.  Well the other night was one of those nights that reinforced my enduring commitment...but I somewhat digress....

I went with Laura (of Belle de Nuit flowers) to the Catclub's reunion party at the Bowery Electric primarily to see Stella Zotis' leather fashion show.  Talk about leather-work -- Damn!  I think it's safe to say that these are not the kinds of leather designs that you find in a suburban department store.  This is rock 'n' roll craftsmanship at its finest.  Certainly it helps if you also live the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, but you might just need at least one Stella Leatha outfit for one of those "special occasions" that you don't tell your parents or kids about.

Or your boss.

Or your husband.

Anyway, I'm kind of loving this whole metallic leather trend.  I may have to investigate further, and determine if this curious material might somehow suit yours truly, somewhere besides on my feet.

Project Runway: Congrats Irina

I didn't love her as a person, but the styling on her final runway show at Bryant Park was badassery at its finest.

Leanne Marshall's exclusive line for Bluefly

Leanne Marshall, the winner of last season's Project Runway, has recently debuted her line on BLUEFLY. Sorry to say, I am NOT digging it. The colors remind me of Malibu Barbie or Valley Girl (the movie). Bluefly's marketing/photography probably isn't helping Leanne's cause either. I am willing to guess she isn't thrilled.
But I wanted Chris March to win anyway. Oh wait, wrong season.

Project Runway: Quick thoughts

OK, two quick things on last night's episode of Project Runway:

1. The greatest TV moment ever EVER is Tim Gunn riding a tandem bike in a suit and helmet with contestant Leann. It was the most fantastic visual shown on my flat screen and you can't tell me that the producers, cameramen, etc. weren't DYING laughing the whole time they were filming it.

2. I don't understand why they ask the final four contestants to create a whole line just to eliminate one of them before anyone even sees it. If I was Jerell, I'd be PISSED. I mean, what is he supposed to do with all of this stuff now sight unseen? Seems a little bit unfair. But such is life I suppose.

Project Runway - The Brooke Shields Episode

OK, so the boys at Project Rungay broke it down better and more extensively than I would have. But I still think the TAN MAN should have been sent on home. Shorts? In an office? On a 40-something female executive? COME ON!

Christian Siriano's line is LIVE on Bluefly

Christian Siriano, that dastardly little fashion wizard from Project Runway, has launched his line on Bluefly - where prices are 20% off. There aren't tons of pieces, but I very much like what I see! However, it appears to be selling out fast...items that were there yesterday are no longer posted.

So get going!

Project Runway - Congratulations...

Christian.

(I knew it - I even texted P.R. to say that he should be the winner....the GSNYC knows...SHE KNOWS!!!).

The final three were truly awesome, but I think I still would have liked to have seen all of Chris March's line - in fact I was thinking that they should have picked him over Rami, but that's possibly just my goth side shrieking.

I MET A FASHION GOD

Sure, I went to the Oscars. But the real excitement happened before I even stepped foot outside of LAX on Friday! I was awaiting my suitcase at the baggage carousel when I looked over my left shoulder to see TIM GUNN standing 2 people away! How much better of a sighting than this could a Guerilla Shopper get?

So while I didn't want to bug him, I knew that I would simply have to say something or I'd be kicking myself for eternity. I quickly saw my way in-- the guy I was sitting next to on the plane was now right next to the FASHION GOD. I would have to use him to reach my destination. Here's how the whole exchange went:

Me to guy I sat next to: Bye, have a good time seeing Bette Midler in Vegas.
Guy: Oh thanks.
Me (now standing perpendicular to Tim Gunn) to Tim Gunn [touching the sleeve of his impeccable suit]: "It's my favorite show."
TIM GUNN: "Oh why thank you so much. It's a GREAT season, isn't it?"
Me (realize I am wearing glasses and have my hair in two ponytails, by the way): "The BEST!!"
TIM GUNN: "Yes, it's great it's a lot of fun."

So I could have basically turned around and gone home right then and there. He was the real deal - his Project Runway persona is...him!

Carry on...

Project Runway - The Avant-Garde Episode

Did you watch Project Runway last night? OH MY GOD. I have to say the Chris/Christian team and the Jillian/Victorya teams produced some of the best designs I have ever seen in the show's four seasons. While I would DIE to own and wear J/V's outfit (black coat), I was happy that C/C won (dress) - they really created a piece of breathtaking art.

Jeffrey Sebelia: Best TV Character 2006?

See: http://www.prblognews.com/

Best TV Characters 2006
[10 January 2007]
by Matt Cibula
Laudable reality characters also emerged in 2006. Jeffrey Sebelia was a lot of fun to hate on Project Runway 3. He was an arrogant prick and his designs weren't anywhere near as edgy as he though they were. (In my house, we preferred Michael's humility, Uli's practicality, and even Laura's weird WTF-ness.) But the winner of the best "reality" show contest was undeniably its best character as well, if only because his neck tattoo highlighted the fact that his head resembles a penis. Plus, Laura was being such a sore loser, we kind of rooted for him too.

Project Runway: Jeffrey's Cosa Nostra Line in NYC

It should be no big surprise that one of my favorite TV shows is Bravo's Project Runway. I have been watching since season one and had already proclaimed my love for Season 2's Nick (in a platonic way, obviously). So how fantastic is it that one of my good friends, Mark (a guy I used to work for), is related to this season's Jeffrey Sebelia! Mark found out where Jeffrey's Cosa Nostra line is sold in New York, and early this afternoon we ventured to Esthete, a boutique in the meatpacking on 14th St. between 9th and 10th Aves.

We entered the cooler-than-thou store and quickly located several Cosa Nostra leather jackets for both men and women. I tried one of them on and Mark was able to quickly fire off a few digital shots before the princess of a CLERK yelled at us that "there are no photos in the store!" So we obliged and continued inspecting the remarkable style, workmanship and artistry that go into each and every one of Jeffrey's items. Now, this stuff is not exactly affordable, but the level of work on these items fully indicates that this guy has the goods. Very exciting stuff that should be worn by the hottest rock chicks in the biz. And the pictured model should obviously be gracing the cover of French Vogue.

Watch the Project Runway finale on Bravo on Wednesday at 10 p.m. EST.
