Lord & Taylor - A Christmas Miracle, Home-style

I'm not sure how this got by me, but the Lord & Taylor in NYC has a relatively new "home" department on the 9th floor that is DIVINE.  It features just a few select designers like Calvin Klein, Jonathan Adler, and Ralph Lauren and I LOVE IT.  It's not overdone.  It's not overstocked.  It's tasteful.  It has bedding, furniture, housewares.  And most of all, there are some MAJOR sales going on right now.  Like they almost owed me money at the register.  It's on the same floor as the Christmas decor, which makes the whole thing a nice mix.

Feb. 11-15: Bloomingdale's Bra Fit Event

Stand up!  Pay Attention! Don't Slouch! Ladies, if you are out of your 20s, you need to reassess your rack.  Check out Bloomingdale's free bra fit event (until you decide to buy something, of course).  I firmly stand behind a well-fitting bra.  It can really make your clothes fit better and give you confidence.  Take it from me, I have my own "bad bra" tales.  Anyway, their experts at Bloomies aim to size you up and suggest some options from Wacoal, Calvin Klein underwear, Chantelle and more...and if you make any regular-price "intimates" purchase of $125 or more, you can take $25 off.  Call to schedule a fitting. Filene's Basement in Union Squuuyawn...

Realizing that I write ad nauseum about DSW in Union Square, I thought I'd change things up a bit and scribe on Filene's Basement, which is located in the same building. Except first I need to admit that while at DSW, and in between taking calls from Guerilla Shopper groupies, I bought New Balance all-terrains to replace my current ugly-ass sneakers. I need to play the part if I am to achieve fitness zen at Equinox.

OK, so anyway I scoured the second floor of Filene's, which is actually the third floor of the building, which isn't really a "basement" at all, and came up with...

NOTHING!

I tried about 10 items on, and they did nothing for me, except make me look drowned out. Now, had I been looking for a semi-conservative suit, I'd have to admit that they have some decent options from Tahari and Calvin Klein (reg. $320 reduced to $130), but alas, I was not.
What I was looking for was simply not present and accounted for. There were lots of non-structured, picked over, fancy T-shirts and pants that don't seem to go to one's ankle. What is it with all of these knickers and shorts these days? I mean having a couple of pairs is fine, but why is the whole store full of this crap?
I really need to put the pedal to the metal on hooking up the spring into summer wardrobe...but where do I go now that Aaron's is gone?! I am going to have to recreate my approach. Wish me well. I'll be back.

Lord & Taylor: Coat & Jacket SALE

Hi all, I'm finally back at the command center and wanted to show you the first of many excellent achievements.

The Guerilla Parents ever so kindly braved the jungle, otherwise known as Paramus, NJ, to find me, the Baby Guerilla, a winter jacket of the hooded, waterproof, ski bunny kind. They purchased a jacket at Lord & Taylor that was tremendously fabulous, however was a bit too small for a guerilla.

So in a rare NJ retail mall appearance, the Guerilla Shopper took it upon herself to zoom around northern NJ in an effort to make an excellent exchange. I found the perfect replacement (pictured above) from everyone's favorite, Calvin Klein. Not only does this form-fitting, hooded, down-filled gem provide warmth and style - IT WAS 50% OFF! Meaning that it cost $72.50, which was a big great huge savings for the Guerilla Parents who had spent way too much on their original purchase (but only in an effort to ensure that I had the best guerilla suit possible to stay warm in the winter months - if it ever gets cold!).
So everyone won, and I even got to buy a whole kitchen full of NJ-based groceries with the difference, which the GPs ever so thoughtfully donated. Another huge score - and you NYC dwellers know what I'm talking about when it comes to the allure of cheap groceries. Let's eat bananas!
