ANNA: The Beetle Dress & the Excellent Jacket
I loved the groovy beetle print dress at ANNA but felt like I needed to ensure that it could be worn any day or night...how to make it day-job appropriate? Well, I figured it out! By putting this short dark navy jacket on over it and tying the belt loosely around its collar I managed to create a bit of a retro office outfit, but with bugs! Funny when people see you from a distance and then change their expressions when they get a closer look at the dress pattern. This is how I entertain myself on the job. Then I also snagged myself the fab tweed jacket, which is form-fitting in a Ducati leather motorcycle jacket kind of way. It rocks, looks good with anything, anywhere, anytime...and also comes in a red and black pattern (although they are so fantastico that I wouldn't be surprised if they are almost all gone!). Oh, and the big collar can be worn up and closed with a little secret hook-and-eye for those windy fall days.

My Trans-City Quest: Club Monaco Jacket
So as I think I told you, Club Monaco had a 30% off sale on coats and other outerwear this past weekend. And as you may also know, they always have stuff on sale in the back left section in the Flatiron location (my favorite locale). Well, I tried on about 33 items and fell in love with this jacket. Hard to tell from this photo, but it evokes a certain military + Adam and the Ants circa 1981 feeling that just grabs me. However, they didn't have my size. So I asked if they could find out if another store in NYC had one. One salesman called to find out. I'm not sure what was going on, but it took no less than 15 minutes for him to get an answer, which was, "Yes, we have it at our store on Columbus. They are holding it for you."Great! I asked for the cross street and he told me, "87th St."
So I walked to the subway and off I sped underground to be united with my (on sale) jacket. But when I got to 87th and Columbus guess what? Right. No Club Monaco. But I found one on 87th and Broadway. Oh joy! This must be the place! Wrong. They had it, but only in size "XS." However, they informed me that there was a store on Columbus...and 70th!
"Sigh, well, since I'm all the way up here I may as well check it out." So I walked the 19 blocks over and down, got to the store, explained how someone at their Flatiron store called to reserve this jacket for me.
Unfortunately they had no idea what I was talking about and looked at me like I was a wee bit nuts. My mission was probably too overwhelming to comprehend.
BUT! Just when I thought all hope (and an entire day) was lost, they found one in their basement! I tried it on, liked it, bought it and got back down to my apt. in time to construct a whole outfit around it for my evening plan.

Les Nanas: The Parisian Invasion

This weekend was one of those times that I wished I had some kind of wedding-banquet-charity ball to attend because I found a killer dress that should be on the cover of French Vogue, if not on my body. However, lucky for you gals it's still available at Les Nanas de Gramercy. I found out that there are only four "Balerine" by Nana Baila available - one in each size (1, 2, 3, 4) for about $325+. This slate-coloured dress is made from a polyester/viscose blend and features intricate leather trim. It must be seen and tried on to be thoroughly respected as the work of art that it is.I was also taken by the red uber-stylish sweater jacket from Maillili you see pictured here, as well as the turquoise-iridescent jacket styled for whomever is up to the task of wearing and pairing them with the right skirt/dress/pants, because that's the kind of respect these pieces demand!

Les Nanas: 30% Off!

Hey everyone! My favorite store, Les Nanas, is having a 30% off sale on various fall/winter items so go check it out! Both of the jackets that I am sporting like America's Next Top Model are part of the offering. The black and red one is particularly flattering and there are only two left - size M and L - so get yourself on over there!
And hooray for me (but too bad for you) that I bought the pictured hat, which my friend described as "part Jamaican Rasta, part English Punk Rocker." A splendid combination indeed. Now if the temperature would only drop below 65 degrees in the shade, maybe I'll actually get to wear this sporty wintertime cap!

Lord & Taylor: Coat & Jacket SALE
The Guerilla Parents ever so kindly braved the jungle, otherwise known as Paramus, NJ, to find me, the Baby Guerilla, a winter jacket of the hooded, waterproof, ski bunny kind. They purchased a jacket at Lord & Taylor that was tremendously fabulous, however was a bit too small for a guerilla.
So in a rare NJ retail mall appearance, the Guerilla Shopper took it upon herself to zoom around northern NJ in an effort to make an excellent exchange. I found the perfect replacement (pictured above) from everyone's favorite, Calvin Klein. Not only does this form-fitting, hooded, down-filled gem provide warmth and style - IT WAS 50% OFF! Meaning that it cost $72.50, which was a big great huge savings for the Guerilla Parents who had spent way too much on their original purchase (but only in an effort to ensure that I had the best guerilla suit possible to stay warm in the winter months - if it ever gets cold!).
So everyone won, and I even got to buy a whole kitchen full of NJ-based groceries with the difference, which the GPs ever so thoughtfully donated. Another huge score - and you NYC dwellers know what I'm talking about when it comes to the allure of cheap groceries. Let's eat bananas!
