Hi y'all, I have two sample/warehouse sales for ya:

1. Delman - Yes, everyone's conservative-and-overpriced shoe brand is having a shoe & boot warehouse sale (60-70% off retail) starting Weds. Nov. 19 thru Fri. Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 123 W. 18th St., 4th Fl. (between 6th & 7th Aves.). Fall '08 merch. Credit cards accepted. All sales final.

2. Portolano - Started yesterday, but runs through Fri. Nov. 21. Go to 15 W. 37th St. (11th Floor) and get yourself some new leather gloves - the selection is huge. The prices are OK. Credit cards accepted. All sales final.

Christmas Lists from Guerilla Mom & Dad

I have not yet purchased a single Xmas present. But the orders from Mother and Father Guerilla are in. See what a demanding life I lead?:

I'm thinking I could use some black leather dress gloves - the ones lined in silk not cashmere. I have the other kind but they look somewhat bulky for really dress occasions or in warmer weather. Size 7 1/2.

I might like medium blue denim jeans, no adornments, hip hugger style ok (maybe the best fit) can be straight leg and boot cut (whatever that means). Now I'm on a roll. If you have some castoffs that would fit the bill, I'd be most happy with that too.

DAD
Belt – Brown and/or black. Woven leather. Size 36. Could be expensive but price is no object.

After shave lotion or balm (not cologne). Some new expensive designer kind. Not flowery smelling.

That’s all I can think of and have room for.

I think a lot of you are clamoring for the latest word on the Portolano sample sale, where you can get designer gloves, knits, small leather goods, handbags, ties, cashmere coordinates, hosiery - however, in my mind, the only real reason to go is for the leather gloves.

Portolano sample sale - This Week

Portolano's sample sale is going on now - today, tomorrow and Wednesday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Located on the 11th floor of 15 West 37th St., this sale offers gloves, knits, small leather goods, handmade Italian silk ties, cashmere coordinates and Emilio Cavallini hosiery. Be prepared to hand over your coat, purse, and first born at the door.

Now, I love leather gloves. I happily wear them for five or six months straight every year. And this sale has hundreds, maybe thousands of styles and colors. But I didn't buy any. Why? Well, I'm hoping I can subtly hint that I need a few pair for Christmas - nice ones - in black, red and "surprise me." But I was also not impressed with the prices. I guess I was recently spoiled by the $1,500 worth of stuff for $100 Calypso sample sale, but a $50 pair of leather gloves that I will likely lose doesn't ring of true sample sale pricing to me.
