British Luxury Shoe Designer Joanne Stoker Debuts In The States for Spring 13

For Spring, Joanne Stoker found inspiration in the idyllic boardwalks and seaside getaways familiar to her native UK and each design is infused with Stoker’s inimitable sense of fun and play. The collection features modern textures and fabrics and a range of different heel heights for the wearers mood. Styles like the ‘Jitterbug’ or ‘Mambo’ are named after old dancehall classics and deliver high-fashion, high-fun architectural heels. Bold candy stripes work their way into a range of flats and graphic raffia’s, with oversized lurex bows used to bring a femininity to sky-high platform styles.

Linge Shoes: Ballet Flats that I Love, Want, Desire

I am a big sucker for ballet flats.  Always have been, always will be.  I haven't seen these Linge flats in person (yet), but from the photos I'm pretty sure I love the style and colors.  And only $59 when I rarely see a flat for less than $125?  Key attributes:

Together they created an exclusive collection; available at the following Club Monaco stores:

Avon: I Found Two Good Things

I was invited to a summer/fall showing of Avon products. OK, totally not my style or scene, but everyone was very nice and they gave me free stuff, so I will refrain from my usual sarcastic and cutting remarks, and just focus on the good stuff:

Good Item #1: The Slimwear Pencil Skirt, $29.99

Available for Fall, this skirt has a Spanx-like system built right in. It's groovy and I liked it. I might even buy it.

Good Item #2: Pleats Are Neat Satin Flats (available in black and purple), $16.99

These shoes will be available for winter. I love flats. I have at least 4 pairs of black ones already. I may have to buy the purple ones.

Bottom line, these items are fun and cheap. They kind of reminded me of the best fashions one might come across at Target; and this is a good thing, for you feel like you have conquered the fashion world and capitalist society in one fell swoop.

DSW SUCKS

Yes, I am on a tear today. I went to DSW this weekend, and perhaps it's down to a weird fashion time of year, but the inventory SUCKED. But the last time I went there I thought it sucked too. So I am wondering if they have turned into DSucksW. Half the shoes are Blowfish...Blowfish? What the hell kind of shoes are those? Well just go look at them, and you will see they are crap. What happened to the Cole Haans and Kenneth Coles? Not that they are the height of shoe fashion, but at least they are in the ball park. OH! And even better, I did spy a pair of Frye boots in black and brown and the price was NOT MARKED DOWN AT ALL. They cost $345 -- Retail! And their sneaker selection stinks too. I will go back one more time in the new season, and if they don't impress me, I think I will have to banish them to Marty's Shoe Warehouse land.

Hollywould Sale this weekend (Jan. 11-13)

From New York magazine's Best Bets: FRIDAY, I thought this was a sale worth highlighting, since this Guerilla finds this particular store interesting, but out of her price range under normal circumstances:

OK, so sue me. I broke my own rule regarding how much I was willing to spend on flats. But I couldn't help it. I was desperate! And then I walked into Eric on Madison & 86th St. and found myself amidst an array of flats -- all on sale! Thirty percent off the first pair and 40% off the second...so of course I had to buy two. And here they are. Lovely COMFORTABLE Margo Farin flats...allowing me to get rid of two other pair that I drove into the ground.

Marc Jacobs Flats - cheap?

Today's Best Bets Daily (New York Magazine) proclaims that $155 is a decent price for rubber flats. Granted, they are Marc Jacobs, and nothing with his name on it is actually affordable, however THEY ARE RUBBER FLATS. And when did flats in general become so expensive? Trends and prices hold hands and rise as one! Let's make a pact: No flats for more than $75 (and that's still too much!).
