Sales This Weekend: Oak and A.P.C.

From Urban Daddy:
SALE-ING II
Oak Sale 60% off
We approach the term "bargain basement" with a tinge of trepidation. Not so when that basement belongs to Oak, and the bargains include apparel and shoes from Opening Ceremony, Diesel and Acne. It's like your parents' basement without the Ping-Pong table but with better denim.

Oak, 28 Bond St, 212-677-1293

From Paper magazine's VIP Newsletter:

Ina meany miney moe

Hey, I've been meaning to write about Ina, the designer consignment store in Noho and Soho and all around the town. It's basically full of rich people's incredibly expensive castoffs - Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Jil Sander, etc. after those fashions become obsolete (two months after they are bought).

"What's with the attitude, Guerilla Shopper?" you might be asking yourself.

Well I'm kind of tired and cranky, but I also sat next to a saleswoman while getting a pedicure at Haven this summer, and upon realizing she worked at Ina, I began to ask her about the store. I was interested in the kind of merchandise they accepted, if there were parameters for what they would and wouldn't take, etc. I was truly interested because I have some Smithsonian-worthy 80s pieces that I have considered saving for a rainy day. Well, Ms. Ina lady was incredibly curt and condescending. Little did she know I was a bitch with a blog.

Ghost on Bond St.: Hurry! $25 Jeans!

I have walked by, but never into Ghost on Bond St. But when one of my friendly stringers just informed me of their "we're closing sale" going on through the end of January, I decided I had to check it out.

Most of the rayon, unstructured, flowy dresses, skirts and tops are not really my style, but $25 designer jeans are! I tried on three different pairs and settled on the ones pictured below (the last ones of their kind). You need to get yourself in there and buy some. I found the "stretchy" ones much more comfortable than the "rigid" pair, however I think I liked the "rigid" denim better. I bought the stretchies (I must be getting old.)

I asked why they were closing, and can't really remember what the answer was because I was so mortally stunned by the following exchange:

Me: "Are you closing because the rents in this neighborhood are skyrocketing?"
Salesdude: "No, it's really cheap down here. Like Sixteen."
Me: "Sixteen hundred?"
Salesdude: "No, sixteen thousand."
Me: "A year?"
Salesdude: "No, a MONTH. It's retail!"

I should probably move to Idaho, because there is no way on earth that I could ever understand that $16,000 A MONTH is considered CHEAP. Oh good lord.
