Legacy Cleaners uses REAL detergent

If you're like me, you haven't done your own laundry since the early 90s. Instead, you've entrusted complete strangers to wash your goods, oftentimes your intimates. Woo Woo! Anyway, dropping your laundry off on the way to work and picking up a brick of clean, dry and folded clothes, sheets and towels, is one of the greatest conveniences of modern New York City society. Except for a few minor issues: your clothes don't ever really get clean, your whites quickly turn to grays and everything feels kinda rough and doesn't smell exactly fresh. But what are we to do? Actually do our OWN laundry? No. If you live anywhere near Third Avenue in the 20s, might I suggest you try using Legacy Cleaners, where they perform the standard service in addition to using real detergent a la Wisk, Tide and Downy. They also provide you with your own laundry bag that has a shoulder strap for easier carting about. They have a few stores in Manhattan and the Bronx and have their own facility where only their own customers laundry is done. It might cost a little bit more than your standard laundry service, but you will be reminded of what it used to be like when your clothes were truly clean...and smelled that way!

p.s. It's right next to Pinkberry! Location, location, location...

they are also unapologetic for ruining and losing your garments. i had two pieces from club monaco ruined. one was lose completely and the other was completely discolored. they also lost all of my roommates dry cleaning. when i confronted them, they said that they were so busy that they didn't have the time to go item by item and it could have happened. they also refused to give me my money back or come to any other agreements. BEWARE!!

Funny you should say that because they also ruined my towels and lost my Club Monaco jeans, and when I informed them of such they told me that my towels were probably of poor quality and they did not believe me about the jeans. However, I managed to get them to give me laundry credit for the towels that were lost and remarkably the jeans showed up about 6 weeks later - another customer kindly returned them upon realizing they weren't theirs! (they put my jeans in someone else's laundry). I haven't gone back much since. They are also more expensive than others and in this economy and with cleaners on every corner, we as consumers have multiple choices!

whoops - I meant towels that were ruined, not lost (in the comment above).

I have been using them for months now and they have provide the best cleaning and pressing I've seen. No problems yet. They are more expensive but you get what you pay for like anything else.

Legacy Cleaners sucks! They ruined a scarf by putting an ink stain in the scarf while trying to remove stains. They are also VERY rude about ruining my scarf. The guy at the counter actually made it seem like he was doing ME a favor by charging me $7.75 to ruin my scarf and said I was unreasonable for asking for $7.75 back. Needless to say, they may have their day in court. I'm PISSED!

They suck! They ruined my scarf but putting a hole in it while trying to get a stain out. Then the guy at the counter said I was unreasonable for asking for the cleaning price back. He also then told me that he charged me less -- can you believe $7.75 was supposed to be a bargain -- for the scarf, and that I was being unreasonable for asking for that cost back!!!
